Chronic Illness
Chronic Illness
The Chronic Illness Rider provides crucial support 30 days after initiation. If unable to perform two of six "activities of daily living" (ADLs: Bathing, Continence, Dressing, Eating, Toileting, Transferring) or cognitively impaired, you're eligible for benefits. Discount of death benefit will be applied for all Accelerated Benefit Riders (ABRs). The rider incurs no extra charges. A doctor's certification of inability to perform two ADLs for 90 days qualifies for benefits. Cognitive impairment certification within the last 12 months also makes you eligible. This impairment involves significant supervision due to memory loss or reasoning issues. Eligibility isn't restricted to licensed facilities, and benefits, applied annually or monthly, allowing flexible utilization.
